27th July

Dear students,

Homework for today: Maths WB 3B Part 2, Pages 7 - 8!

Today, we learn how to read time in 3 ways! Maths is not all about equations, numbers and concepts. It also helps us relate to our lives. Time is all around us. Next few lessons, we will learn about conversion of time, subtraction and addition.

remember, 1 hr = 60 mins, 1 min = 60 secs, 60 mins = 3600 secs.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
Mr Nelson Ong

Wrapping up of FRACTIONS

Dear students,

We have come to the end of the topic of fractions. Some key notes to remember:

1. Fractions are parts out of a whole.

2. When we compare fractions, we find out if they are greater, smaller or equivalent.

3. To find equivalent fractions of a given fraction, we multiply/divide the SAME number to BOTH the numerator and denominator.

4. When we add and subtract fractions, we only deal with the numerator. We do not add and subtract the denominators.

5. When comparing, adding or subtracting fractions with DIFFERENT denominators, we first need to look at the denominator, then change both denominators to the same common whole number either using the LOWEST MULTIPLE METHOD or by multiplying both denominators together.

Remember these key rules :) Any questions, do look for me.

Sincerely,
Mr Nelson Ong.

Racial Harmony Week

Dear all,

It's racial harmony week! You are highly encouraged to wear your ethnic costumes to school on the 21st July (Thursday) on the actual day itself.

Racial Harmony Day is celebrated annually on 21 July in Singapore. The event is to commemorate the 1964 Race Riots, which took place on 21 July 1964.
Racial Harmony Day also represents a day for schools to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage.

18th July Monday

Dear parents and students,

Homework for the day is the Maths Activity Book pages 89 - 90. I have also given the topics for CA2 with the exception of Chinese. I have gotten the students to jot down the details in their diary for each parent to acknowledge and sign. Do start preparing each day and work hard for the upcoming CA2.

For students who enjoy learning maths using online resources and visual diagrams, do check out this website:

I am sure you had a fun time making the sandwiches. For the group that did not bring your items, I will rearrange a scheduled time for you to bring your items to make the sandwich again. A reminder that it is important to bring your items when instructed.
Rule #5 We do the best in everything we do. Thus,

A reminder to those who have not completed their mathematics workbook pages 81 - 84, please do as homework over the weekend and bring to class next Monday (11th July). So that is your only homework for Mathematics for this weekend.

For those who have yet to pass up your NE poster, please do so next week. Remember that it is being graded!

Lastly, for those interested in joining the NE costume design competition, you can take some time to think about your design over the weekend and come up with the costume design and pass up to me LATEST by Monday (11th July).

That's all for now. Have a good weekend and enjoy yourselves. Work hard and play hard. :)

Dear all,

We are honoured to have 4 students from China's Shaowu School to grace our classrooms for classroom immersion. Each pupil is assigned a buddy to guide them and interact with them. Here are some of the photos captured from today's session.
